The relation between Learning and Tech. Making a clear distinction

1.- Learning ABOUT technology
We live in a technological world, and students have to understand it. That is why schools have to include subjects about coding, robotics and general STEM.
2.- Learning WITH technology
It is not a pedagogical need, but it sounds reasonable in a technological world to use digital textbooks, Google Classroom, Microsoft tools, etc. Unfortunately, as the reports tell us, this is not improving education outcomes: it only increases school productivity.
3.- Learning DUE TO technology
There are certain aspects of learning where technology perhaps will not help, but if there are other parts where it does, we should research its use and foster it in case we gain good results: education based on evidences. All this under a scientific model and based in the knowledge sciences (specially neuroscience). Moreover, we have to work under two parameters:
  • Efficacy and validation. Technology has to show it improves the teaching and learning processes.
  • Efficiency. This improvement has to be feasible in economic terms in the long run.
  • This movement focuses on the third way: LearningDueToTechnology.com
